Testing of luminaires and light sources

Test of electrical and non-electrical safety

Luminosity, lighting effect, reliability and longevity are essential quality criteria for luminaires and light sources. Sometimes even the health and possibly also the physical integrity of third parties depend on it.

For this reason, luminaires and light sources often have to meet specific standards with regard to safe and reliable operation. The international IEC CB system is of particular importance here.

In addition, Regulations 244/2009/EC and 1194/2012/EU have also brought about enormous changes in the area of environmental compatibility, with massive demands on manufacturers and distributors of light bulbs.

DEKRA tests and certifies the following luminaires and light sources, among others:

  • wall-mounted luminaires (IEC/EN 60598-2-1)
  • recessed lights (IEC/EN 60598-2-2)
  • luminaires for road and street lighting (IEC/EN 60598-2-3)
  • floor lamps/portable luminaires (IEC/EN 60598-2-4)
  • floodlights (IEC/EN 60598-2-5)
  • handlamps (IEC/EN 60598-2-8)
  • ground recessed luminaires (IEC/EN 60598-2-13)
  • luminaires for emergency lighting (IEC/EN 60598-2-22)
  • track systems and track-mounted spotlights (IEC/EN 60570)

DEKRA secures access to global markets through its worldwide network and subsidiaries, particularly in East Asia. Access to national markets, such as Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, can also be facilitated by partner laboratories. Whether IEC, ENEC/ENEC+, GS mark or a DERKA seal, these test marks ensure access to national, European and worldwide markets.
