Data Protection and Privacy Policy of DEKRA Testing and Certification GmbH

The operators of DEKRA Testing and Certification GmbH know that the security of personal data is a serious issue. To observe, in particular, aspects of privacy when processing personal data is very important to us. Personal data are only used in compliance with the stipulations of the German Federal Data Protection Act BDSG; the providers of this website pledge themselves to secrecy. However, this website may contain links to the websites of other providers who are not subject to this privacy policy.

Note: In case of dispute, the German version of this content applies. This privacy statement clarifies the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data by the responsible provider DEKRA Testing and Certification on this website (hereinafter referred to as “Offer”). The legal basis for data protection can be found in the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemediengesetz (TMG, German Telemedia Act).

Access data/server log files
The provider (or his web-space provider) collects data about each access to the Offer (known as server log files). The access data includes: name of the accessed web page, file, date and time of the retrieval, transmitted data volume, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (page that was visited before the retrieval), the IP address and the requesting provider. The provider uses the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operating, securing and optimizing the Offer. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data at a later date if there is reasonable suspicion of unlawful use.

Handling personal data
Personal data is information by means of which a person can be identified, i.e. information that can be traced back to a person. This includes their name, email address or phone number. Likewise, data about preferences, hobbies, memberships or which websites someone viewed, is considered to be personal data.

Personal data is collected, used and passed on by the provider only if this is legally permitted or when users consent to such data collection.

When contacting the provider (for example via a contact form or e-mail), the user’s data is stored for the purpose of processing the inquiry as well as in the event that additional questions arise.

Comments and contributions
When users post comments in the blog or on other posts, their IP addresses are saved. This happens to ensure the protection of the provider in the case that someone writes comments and contributions that contain illegal contents (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.). In this case, the provider themselves may be prosecuted for the comment or contribution and is therefore interested in the author’s identity.

Comments subscriptions
Users may subscribe to follow-up comments. Users will receive a confirmation email to verify that they are the owner of the email address entered. Users can unsubscribe from ongoing comment subscriptions at any time. The confirmation email will contain the corresponding information.

We use newsletters to inform subscribers about our offers and our company. If you would like to receive the newsletter, we will ask for a valid email address as well as information which allows us to verify that you are the owner of the given email address or that the owner of the email address agrees to receiving the newsletter. Further data is not collected. This data is only used for sending the newsletter and will not be passed on to third parties. By registering for the newsletter, we store your IP address and the date when you registered. This storage serves solely as proof in the event that a third party misuses an email address and registers for the newsletter without receiving permission by the person who owns the email address. You can revoke your consent to the storage of the collected data, your email address as well as using it for sending the newsletters at any time. You can unsubscribe via a link in the newsletter, in your subscriber profile or by notifying us through the contact information indicated above.

Integration of third-party services and third-party content
It may happen that third-party content, such as videos from YouTube, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or images from other websites, is included within this website. This always assumes that the providers of said content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) have the user’s IP address. Without the IP address, they could not send the content to the user’s browser. The IP address is therefore required to display these contents. We only make use of such content where the respective providers use the IP address only for content delivery. However, we have no influence on third-party providers storing the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. As far as we are aware of this, we will notify the users.
