Face pieces are used as a link between the respirator and its wearer.

We test and certify the following:

• Full face masks considering to EN 136
• Half masks and quarter masks considering to EN 140 and EN 1827
• Mouthpiece assemblies considering to EN 142
• Half masks without inhalation valves considering to EN 1827
• Half-mask filters considering to EN 149
• Mask-helmet combinations considering to DIN 58610

We also inspect whether face pieces comply with the following:

• vfdb Directive 0802 (selection of respirators for fire brigade operations)
• ASG Recommendations (recommendations of respirators to be used in mining)
• Technical Directive for modular systems – safety helmet, headset, breathing connection and filters – for the police

The following list gives you an idea of what we test:

• Leakage tests on the person using either SF6 or NaCl (inward leakage und total inward leakage)
• Measuring the field of vision
• Measuring breathing resistance and the CO2-level of air inhaled
• Examining the impact of heat radiation and flames
• Field experiments and performance tests
