Supplied-air respirators

If a person is surrounded by unbreathable atmospheres, reliable breathing protection is a must. Supplied-air respirators are used at work, at sports and at rescue operations where air-purifying equipment does not provide sufficient protection. This may be the case e.g. when the ambient atmosphere contains less than 17 vol. % oxygen.

We test and certify the following:

  • Self-contained closed-circuit breathing apparatus for escape considering to EN 13794
  • Compressed-air respirators (Self-contained open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus with full face mask) considering to EN 137 and EN 14435
  • Compressed air line breathing apparatus with demand valve considering to EN 14593-1, EN 14593-2, EN 14594 and EN 1835
  • Fresh air hose  breathing apparatus considering to EN 138
  • Self-contained closed-circuit breathing apparatus compressed oxygen or compressed oxygen-nitrogen type considering to EN 145
  • Open-circuit self-contained compressed air diving apparatus considering to EN 250 and EN 13949
  • Self-contained re-breathing diving apparatus considering to EN 14143
  • Open-circuit umbilical supplied compressed gas diving apparatus considering to EN 15333-1 and EN 15333-2
  • Respiratory protective devices for use against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) agents considering to BS 8468

We also inspect whether respirators comply with the following:

  • vfdb Directive 0802 (selection of respirators for fire brigade operations)
  • vfdb Directive 0803 (selection of self-contained light breathing apparatus using compressed air for fire brigade operations)
  • ASG Recommendations (recommendations of respirators to be used in mining)
